Treasurer Ball Voluntarily Cuts Current Year Budget

Treasurer Allison Ball will voluntarily cut the current year general fund appropriation spending by one percent, her office announced Wednesday, June 7. Treasurer Ball said she is committed to ensuring her office is financially efficient without disrupting services and ensuring state budget obligations are met. The decision to voluntarily cut her current year general fund appropriation comes at the request of Budget Director John Chilton, who sent a letter to the State Treasurer’s Office and other Constitutional Officers asking them to join the Governor in cutting their budgets. Ball added that despite cuts, her office has maintained, and in some cases improved, improved service quality while also saving taxpayers money.
