An armed robbery occurred around 7:00am Monday, June 12 at a Dollar General in Letcher County. Kentucky State Police Post 13 responded to the store in the Mayking community, where employees advised troopers that one of the workers was taking trash outside the store when a male subject, dressed in black and wearing a ski mask, produced a firearm and ordered her back into the store. Once inside, the man demanded money, which the employee handed over from the register and safe. The man then fled out the back door. No one was hurt during the incident, though the employee was transported to Whitesburg ARH for anxiety related issues. The male perpetrator is described as being approximately 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighing around 250 pounds, wearing all black clothing.
