A single vehicle crash claimed the life of a Jackson woman in the early morning hours of Friday, June 16.  Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard received a 911 call advising of the crash at 2:44 a.m., on Highway 15 in the Quicksand community of Breathitt County.  Troopers with KSP Post 13 responded to the scene along with members of Breathitt County Ambulance Service. Troopers located a 2016 Toyota Scion resting in the middle of the highway with a single occupant inside.  It was determined that the Toyota was traveling northbound on KY 15, when it collided with a large boulder that had fallen onto the roadway.  Breathitt County Coroner George Griffith pronounced the driver, 22 year old Katie E. Combs of Jackson, deceased at the scene.  No autopsy will be performed, and standard toxicology results for fatal crash investigations are pending.
