Bath County Man Sentenced for Manufacturing, Misbranding Products

A Bath County man, who was found guilty on federal charges of manufacturing misbranding products, conspiracy to impede an investigation and witness tampering, has been sentenced to 72 months in federal prison. Samuel Girod, 57, was sentenced for obstruction of proceedings before an agency of the United States, witness tampering, failure to appear, and nine violations of the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act in connection with three products he made and distributed. Additionally, Girod was ordered to pay over $14,000 in restitution to his customers, as well as 3 years supervised release following his release from prison.
