Repairs began the morning of Monday, July 10, on KY 881 Brushy Road in Pike County from milepoint 10.5 to 10.537. This is the site of a large embankment failure that happened May 13 and 14. The break encroached on both lanes of the roadway, which was closed to all traffic at the time. Highway District 12 applied for and received $145,000 from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s Rural Secondary Emergency Funds to make repairs. A rock base will be built at the bottom level and be filled until it is up to the grade of the roadway. The road will be closed to traffic during working hours, 7am to 5pm, each weekday. It is estimated the work will take two weeks to return the roadway to safe conditions for traffic.
