A fatal collision occurred in Warren County on Monday, July 17, involving a Kentucky State Police Trooper. Around 4:17pm, Trooper Brian Gann was responding to an injury accident on Williams Simmons Road with his emergency equipment activated, when a red 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck attempted a left turn onto Pruitt Road by crossing the southbound lane. The two vehicles collided and left the roadway. Joyce D. Smith, 63, of Bowling Green, was driving the truck and pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, Leroy Smith, 79, also of Bowling Green, and Trooper Gann were taken to the Medical Center Hospital in Bowling Green where they were treated for injuries and released. Trooper Gann will be temporarily place on administrative leave.
