Due to the forecasted extreme heat for Friday, July 21 and Saturday, July 22 the following organizations have generously offered to provide cooling stations for those in need.  This can be an especially dangerous time for the elderly, those suffering illnesses, and young children.   These stations will be open to anyone needing relief from the intense heat.  The Floyd County Sheriff’s office, (606) 886-6711, will be assisting with transport for those that cannot get to one of these stations.

 First Baptist Church of McDowell    Friday and Saturday  Noon to 7 pm

Prestonsburg City Hall                       Friday and Saturday    24 hours each day

Allen Fire Department                       Saturday     Noon to 7pm
