If you have prescription or over-the-counter medications in need of disposal, Operation UNITE has a MedReturn medication collection unit inside of Prestonsburg City Hall. Citizens can drop off medications that include pills, patches, ointments, vitamins, and pet medications. Items not accepted for disposal are aerosol cans, inhalers, needles and other sharp objects, thermometers, hydrogen peroxide, or medications from businesses or clinics. Using medicine take-back programs keeps medications from entering into the environment through wastewater treatment plants or landfill liquid.
