Vehicle Theft and Pursuit in Knott County Results in Arrest of Richmond Man

A Richmond, Kentucky man was arrested the morning of July 25 after taking a vehicle from a Knott County convenient mart, then fleeing from police officers for several miles. Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard received a call from the Hindman Double Kwik on Highway 80 around 7:45am, advising that a man had taken a Chevrolet S-10 truck from the parking lot of the store. The truck was last seen traveling west on KY 80. Troopers with KSP Post 13 and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officers from Region 6 were advised to attempt to locate the truck. The vehicle was located traveling west on HWY 80 and a stop was attempted. The drive refused to stop, then made a sudden turn on the roadway near the Knott and Perry County line. The pursuit continued into Floyd County and back into Knott County before being immobilized. Jarod Stokley, 27, was arrested and lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail. He was charged with several offenses, including DUI, wanton endangerment, and fleeing and evading police. Stokely is also wanted for offenses in Fayette County, KY and Alabama.
