What has become a highlight of the summer season in Kentucky is taking place this weekend at the Kentucky Horse Park. Saturday is the 15th Annual Hats Off Day, a celebration of the Kentucky Horse Industry and its impact on the Bluegrass State. Admission to the Kentucky Horse Park and its attractions is free of charge, according to even organizer Dr. Tom Riddle of event sponsor Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital. Riddle said guests will have access to free horse and pony rides, as well as a free grand prix show jumping contest. Other fun family events include face painting, inflatables, and mechanical horse races. Festivities begin at 4pm with the first 1,000 participants receiving free horse farm hats. This year’s hats off day will honor the 100th anniversary of the birth of legendary racehorse Man O War and spotlight the American saddlebred industry.
