On Monday, July 31, around 11pm, Kentucky State Police Detectives conducted a drug investigation which led to a traffic stop being conducted on a 2017 Kia Sportage on east 4th street in Laurel County. Upon further investigation, the operator Marti Payne, 28, of London, consented to a search of the vehicle, which uncovered drug paraphernalia and a large amount of US currency. A search was then conducted on Payne’s residence yielded a discovery of 12 ounces of suspected crystal meth, drug paraphernalia and over $11,000 in US currency. Payne, along with Chelsea Roark, 25, and Edwin Willis, 43, both of London, were arrested on charges of trafficking in controlled substance and related drug charges.
