Kentucky Emergency Management has activated the State Emergency Operations Center in Frankfort and Regional Response Coordination Center in Hopkinsville, KY in support of the 2017 Solar Eclipse, which will take place Monday, August 21, 2017. Michael Dossett, Director of Kentucky Emergency Management, said “This event is a premier opportunity for Kentucky and our many local first responder groups to showcase the most exciting two-minutes, forty-second in astronomy, welcoming visitors to a safe and enjoyable environment. Citizens preparing for the event should have an emergency kit for their families in their cars in case they are stranded, as well as pack plenty of water for high heat temperatures, drink plenty of fluids, and wear appropriate clothing and sunscreen.
