Arrest Made in Knox County Gasoline Theft

On August 23, Knox County Deputy John Luttrell received a company of gasoline being stolen from an Old Popular Creek Church bus parked at the driver’s residence near the A&B Market on Highway 11 at Cannon. The driver attempted to start the van on Monday evening, August 21, but the van was out of gas and would not start. The driver determined the has had been drained by someone who had punch a hole in the tank from underneath the bus. The theft was captured by a near-by camera, who was identified as Jason Swearengin. He was charged with possession of burglary tools, criminal mischief and several drug charges.
