Sixteen victims will receive a combined $2 million in court-ordered restitution as a result of an investigation completed by the Kentucky Department of Insurance Division of Insurance Fraud Investigation in conjunction with the Lexington Police Department. Robert Lincoln Williamson II was indicted in late 2014 and pleaded guilty to 13 counts of theft in May 2017. Fraud investigators began investigating Williamson in 2013 after he reportedly convinced individuals to cash personal savings and retirement funds with the promise he would re-invest those funds in high-return products. In addition to paying restitution, Williamson was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
