Ashland Puts Public Nuisance Ordinance on Hold

The Ashland Board of City Commissioners has decided to put an ordinance on hold that was aimed at reducing opportunities for prostitution and illegal drug activities in the city. The ordinance would have labeled a property as a public nuisance if used for two or more crimes related prostitution or drug activity within 12 months. Mike Graese, Ashland City Manager, released a statement that the ordinance would be put on hold after having received negative feedback. An open session will take place at a later date following a survey of citizens to propose solutions to safety issues facing the city.
