Knox County Deputy Arrests Motorcyclist After Near Head-on Collision

On Thursday, August 24, a Knox County Deputy was nearly struck in a head on collision in Corbin. Deputy Mikey Ashurst was traveling south on US 25E when he observed a bright light coming toward him. The deputy swerved off the roadway to avoid a collision with the motorcycle. He observed the motorcycle nearly striking another vehicle before stopping it in the North Corbin Kroger parking lot. Joseph Schulfen, 53, of Corbin, was charged with DUI, reckless driving, Wanton Endangerment and improper turning. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
