On Thursday, August 31, Governor Matt Bevin joined Aetna representatives, along with state and local officials at Hazard City Hall, to announce a partnership that will provide 360 doses of Narcan to first responders in Eastern Kentucky to help prevent opioid overdose-related deaths. The governor expressed gratitude toward Aetna for their donation, saying that we don’t have the luxury of pretending there isn’t a problem, and Aetna is helping us address this issue head on. The kits include two doses of nasal spray Narcan, also known as naloxone, and a pamphlet with directions on how to use it.
