On Saturday, September 9, there will be a Bone Marrow Donor Registry Drive at Gatti’s Pizza of Pikeville from 1pm to 6pm. Potential donors should be aged 18 to 44. The registry drive is to find a match for 14-year-old Laiken Layne, who was diagnosed earlier this year with myelodysplastic syndrome, a bone marrow failure disorder. All potential donors have to do is be in general good health, fill out a registration form, have the inside of their check swabbed, and be fully committed to donate.
