On Friday, September 15, the Floyd County Fiscal Court adopted a resolution granting Judge Executive Ben Hale permission to sign any and all document pertaining to the Fort Beaver. The resolution was brought up after Floyd Davis with the Friends of Middle Creek recommended the to the fiscal court that the City of Martin and Floyd County should petition the state and federal government to dedicate the site of Fort Beaver as an historic treasure. The Fort was the home of the Governor-General Stephen Gano Burbridge, who served the Union during the Civil War.
