Around 5pm Monday, September 25, Knox County Deputies received information that William Roark, who had escaped custody on July 17, 2017, was at an apartment building on Manchester Street in Barbourville. When deputies arrived, Roark fled on foot, running through several yards and into a field. Deputies, with assistance from Barbourville Police Department, were able to flush Roark into the Union College Athletic Building parking lot where he was apprehended. Two officers received minor injuries and a damaged uniform during the arrest. William Roark, 26, was charged with fleeing police, resisting arrest, assault of a police officer, criminal mischief and wanton endangerment.
