Floyd County Schools Superintendent Steve Trimble has announced the 2016-2017 assessment results. Trimble said this school year is a transition year with a new accountability system expected to be in effect in the 2018-2019 school year. While there are no labels and rankings, they do have assessment results. Achievement scores improved for at all levels for the district, and seven schools had achievement scores in the 90s, with May Valley Elementary having a score of 100. Scores in the elementary, middle and high school level were all above the state average, though there is room for growth in areas of literacy.
