Kentucky Receives Nearly $3 Million Grant to Aid Sexual Assault Investigations

The US Department of Justice has awarded a nearly $3 million National Sexual Assault Kit Initiative grant to the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office to seek justice for victims of sexual assault. The grant will provide the office with $2,998,090 over the next three years, which Attorney General Andy Beshear will use to establish a cold case unit comprised of a victim advocate, investigator, prosecutor and a SAKI coordinator. Additionally, the grant will allow the attorney general to fund an extra Kentucky State Police cold case unit sexual assault detective.
