On Sunday, October 29, 2017, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a subject with stolen money at the Alpike Motel. Deputies made contact with the subject, Kathy Mitchell, who invited them into her room. During the investigation, the deputy discovered Gabapentin and a syringe, along with $2100. Mitchell was arrested and charged with theft, possession of controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center.
