On Sunday, October 5, 2017, Kentucky House Speaker Jeff Hoover announced his resignation following reports that he had settled a sexual harassment claim out of court. While he resigns from his position as House Speaker, he will continue his position as 83^rd district of Kentucky representative. On Saturday, Governor Matt Bevin called on legislators and state employees who have settled sexual harassment claims to resign. Secretary of State Alice Lundergan Grimes condemned these actions as well and stated she has a zero tolerance policy regarding sexual harassment and hostile work environments.
