With temperatures dropping, the likelihood of snow-covered road ways and school closings is coming. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Highway District 12 has been preparing for the coming possible winter onslaught. Mary Westfall-Holbrook, District 12 chief district engineer, said the crews have spent months getting ready for winter and are prepared with full inventories in the domes and tanks with salt, liquid calcium chloride and salt brine to treat the road roads. As inclement weather does come in, drivers are reminded to slow down, buckle up, check your vehicle before getting on the road, and be alert.
