Ashland Man Shot in Head Arrested for Burglary Next Day

A shooting victim in Ashland has been arrested on a burglary charge. The Ashland Police Department was contacted on Thursday, December 7, 2017 about a disturbance in the 1700 block of Winchester Avenue. Upon arrival, police came into contact with Mark Hopkins, who was the victim of a shooting from Wednesday, December 6, 2017. Hopkins had a new, active warrant from Greenup County and was arrested. Detectives working on recent burglaries recognized and confirmed several items in Hopkins’ possession to be stolen from a recent burglary and a controlled substance. He was arrested and transported to the Boyd County Detention Center without incident.
