On Tuesday. December 12, 2017, a celebration barbecue was held at the Mountain Home Place in Staffordsville to recognize the Paintsville/ Johnson County Trail Town Committee on their work to improve the city of Paintsville, and as the winners of the Beautify the Bluegrass Competition. We spoke with Lt. Governor Jenean Hampton to find out what made Paintsville stand out in the competition. The Lt. Governor was impressed with the Committee using very little resources to revitalize their downtown district. Trail Town Committee member Catherine Castle gave us her thoughts on the group being recognized for their hard work, saying they didn’t do it for the recognition but felt like the contest was made just for them, having already been working before it was announced. As a token of award, Governor Bevin presented Kentucky shaped Christmas ornaments to the Trail Town Committee members.
