According to the Lexington Herald Leader, former social security attorney Eric C. Conn will now face prosecution on 18 charges, possibly serving life in prison if convicted. Federal prosecutor Dustin Davis filed a notice on December 13, 2017 that Conn will now be tried on an 18-count indictment, including mail fraud, wire fraud, money laundering, and destroying evidence in a federal investigation. The former attorney original made a deal and plead guilty to two charges that were not in the original indictment and included a 12-year sentence. Conn is scheduled to go to trial in February for escape and fleeing before going to trial on the original charges.
