Perry County Resident Charged with Animal Cruelty

On Thursday, December 21, 2017, the Perry County Sheriff Department received a call of dogs not being properly cared for at a residence in Grapevine. Sergeant Ruey Couch responded to the scene and found an adult female dog chained on a very short chain under a porch and four puppies. The adult female dog was under weight. The dogs also did not have proper shelter for the low temperatures. One of the puppies was found on dead on the porch. Kayland Miller, the owner of the dogs, was charged with cruelty to animals. The dogs were taken to the Kentucky River Regional Animal Shelter in Hazard.
