Troopers with Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard are investigating a crash that claimed the life of a Breathitt County woman the afternoon of Thursday, January 4, 2018. Troopers responded to the scene on Highway 15 near the Perry and Breahitt County line, in the Engle community of Perry County, after receiving a call advising of the crash at 2:35pm. It was initially determined that a 1992 Cadillac passenger car, driven by 46 year old Bruce Turner of Haddix, was traveling north on Highway 15, when he lost control of the vehicle and collided with a guardrail and overturned. The car rolled over an embankment where it struck a utility pole before coming to rest against a tree. A passenger in the car, 61-year-old Annmarie Nickell, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Perry County Deputy Coroner John Collett. Turner was transported to Hazard ARH for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. No autopsy will be performed and toxicology results from Turner are pending.
