On Monday, January 8, 2018, Mayor Les Stapleton swore in Joey Calhoun as the newest patrolman of the Prestonsburg Police Department. Joey is a Knott County native, having graduated from Knott County Central High School, later obtaining a degree at Hazard Community and Technical College. He served with the Kentucky State Police Division of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement. Calhoun is certified in the Advanced Recognition of Impaired Drivers. He will begin patrolling this week under the supervision of a field training officer.
