On Tuesday, January 9, 2018, the Perry County Sheriff’s Department received a call of some dogs left at an abandoned mobile home and house at 316 and 328 Lewis Hollow Road in Viper. Sergeant Ruey Couch responded to the scene and found one dog running around outside of the mobile home and two dogs inside it. No food or water was left for the dogs. Another dog was found dead, chained to a tree in front of the abandoned house. The three living dogs were taken to the Kentucky River Regional Animal Shelter in Hazard. An arrest warrant was issued on the owner of the dogs, Michael Lewis, for four counts of cruelty to animals. If you have information on his whereabouts, contact the Perry County Sheriff’s Department at 606-439-4523.
