Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested in Lawrence County

On Friday, January 12, 2018, the Louisa Police Department responded to a call from Inez Deposit Bank on Commerce Drive of a suspicious male subject who had fled the area. While officers were attempting to locate the vehicle, they received a second call that the Community Trust Bank in Fort Gay, West Virginia had been robbed by a suspect matching the description. Several law enforcement agencies joined in the pursuit that ended on KY 1690 near Nats Creek. The suspect threw money out of the vehicle during the pursuit. The suspect, Steve Meeks, 61 of Louisa, was arrested and charged with attempted robbery, wanton endangerment and several traffic violations. He was lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center and also faces charges in West Virginia.
