In an effort to restore public confidence, Boyd County Jailer Joe Burchett and his command staff, in conjunction with the Clark County Detention Center, and the Kentucky Department of Corrections, assembled a team of Deputy Jailers to perform a full search of the Boyd County Detention Center on Friday, January 19, 2018. The search was done in response to rumors of contraband, such as cell phones and drugs, being inside the facility. The search lasted over six hours and uncovered extra items that are permitted in the jail, along with homemade tattoo equipment and lights, but no drugs or cell phones were recovered.
