Due to reports of coyote sightings, the City of Prestonsburg has taken extra steps to keep the public safe, including the use of traps. In a post on his Facebook page addressing concerns of traps being used, Mayor Les Stapleton said the coyotes were becoming more aggressive, approaching citizens, coming onto property and taking pets. Mayor Stapleton also added the traps are being placed in areas outside where the general public would be. The mayor assured the traps are a humane way of dealing with the problem.
