Former Supervisory Deputy Jailer at Kentucky River Regional Jail Pleads Guilty

The former supervisory deputy jailer at the Kentucky River Regional Jail has plead guilty to assaulting an inmate. Matthey Amburgey, 29, entered his guilty plea on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 to a federal charge related to his role in an unprovoked violent assault of a detainee. In his plea, Amburgey admitted to using excessive force against a pretrial detainee at the Kentucky River Regional Jail on October 10, 2011, after witnessing another Supervisory Deputy Jailer, Damon Hickman, assault the inmate without justification during booking. The victim of the assault died. Amburgey is scheduled for sentencing on April 12, 2018 at 1pm.
