The Kentucky Center for Education and Workforce Statistics has released county unemployment data for December 2017. Unemployment rates fell in 117 Kentucky counties, stayed the same in two counties (Estill and Hickman), and rose in one county between December 2016 and December 2017. Woodford County recorded the lowest jobless rate at 2.6 percent. Magoffin County recorded the state’s highest unemployment rate at 12.4 percent, followed by Elliot County with 8.7 percent. The unemployment rate rose in Bath County to 6.9 percent. The comparable unadjusted unemployment rate for the state was 3.7 percent for December 2017, and 3.9 percent for the nation.
