On Saturday, January 27, 2018, Kentucky State Police Post 8 Morehead responded to the scene of a two vehicle collision at the 52 mile marker of the Mountain Parkway in Wolfe County. Trooper Justin Flannery responded to the scene along with Wolfe County Emergency Services. After further investigation, it was determined Stephen Conley, 42, of Oil Springs, was traveling westbound on the parkway when his vehicle veered into the eastbound lane and struck a vehicle driven by Samuel Brown, 66, of Campton. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene by Wolfe County Coroner Frank Porter. The collision remains under investigation.
