On Saturday, January 27, 2018, around 6:15pm, Knox County Deputy Sgt Carl Frith received a complaint of an intoxicated man at a residence on Hancock Avenue in Corbin. When Sgt Frith arrived at the residence, the caller let him inside the home. The intoxicated man was heard screaming from inside the bedroom. The man, identified as 27-year-old William Ellis of Corbin, yelled at the deputy to come into the bedroom and get him. When the deputy entered the bedroom, Ellis attacked him with a knife. Sgt Frith was able to avoid contact and utilized his taser to subdue the subject. Ellis was charged with wanton endangerment, menacing and resisting arrest and lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
