A train accident occurred around 11:20am Wednesday, January 31, 2018 in Crozet, Virginia. An Amtrak train carrying around 200 lawmakers, including US Representative Hal Rogers, collided with a garbage truck. According to a release from Amtrak, the train had originated from Washington, D.C. Two crew members and two passengers were transported to a local hospital for minor injuries. One person that was inside the truck was reportedly killed, with another receiving serious injuries. Representative Rogers released a statement saying that he and his wife Cynthia, who were both on board at the time of collision, were safe and unharmed and that they send their thoughts and prayers to those critically hurt and to the individual who was fatally injured.
