On Friday, February 9, 2018, around 11:34am, the Johnson County 911 Dispatch Center received a call of a complaint at a residence on Chet Tackett Hollow in the Boons Camp community. The caller advised that a man had forced his way into the residence and assaulted another man. The called identified the attacker as Andrew Dusty Harless, age 36 of Boons Camp. A second call requested an ambulance, stating that Harless had struck the victim over the head. Deputy Terry Tussey responded to the scene and discovered Harless lying unresponsive on the blacktop, near a ditch line. Two of Harless’ family members informed the deputy that they had chased him down the road in an attempt to restrain him until law enforcement arrived, concerned he may overdose. Paintsville EMS arrived shortly after and examined Harless, detecting no signs of life. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Johnson County Coroner J.R. Frisby. The victim of Harless’ assault did not seek immediate treatment of injuries.
