Kentucky citizens from across the state will rally at the Capitol Rotunda as part of Humane Lobby Day 2018 to encourage passage of stronger animal protection laws. Citizen lobbyists will assemble to rally for the passage of SB 8, sponsored by Senator Danny Carroll, which grants civil immunity to Good Samaritans who forcibly enter a hot vehicle to retrieve a cat or dog in immediate danger of death, and other proposed animal protection bills. Kathryn Callahan, Kentucky state director for the Humane Society of the United States, said this day is an opportunity for animal advocates to come together and let their legislators know they want better laws and to improve the overall status of animal welfare in Kentucky. The Human Rally in the Rotunda will begin Friday, February 16, 2018 at 9am, followed by a press conference, and a meeting in Room 129 of the Capitol Annex.
