The Paintsville Police Department issued a scam alert on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. Citizens are advised that if they receive any type of check from a place they don’t recognize, to not cash it, as it could be a possible scam. If you do receive a check from a person or organization you don’t know, contact local law enforcement immediately. Officials are unsure how the scam is working at this time, but are actively investigating.
