On Monday, February 19, 2018, Attorney General Andy Beshear filed suit against Ohio-based Cardinal Health, over unfair, misleading and deceptive business practices for excessively distributing opioids, particularly in rural counties in Eastern Kentucky. The suit also alleges the company failed to report the suspiciously large volume of these drugs to state and federal authorities. This is the third opioid lawsuit from the Attorney General’s office to date, having filed suit against McKesson Corporation in January for similar claims, and against Endo Pharmaceuticals and Endo Health Solutions in November 2017 for violating state law and directly contributing to state opioid related deaths and overdoes from its drug Opana.
