Paintsville Police investigated a rumor of a possible threat at Johnson Central High School on Monday, February 19, 2018. School administration had begun the investigation that morning. Upon completion of the investigation, it was determined that the rumors were unsubstantiated. Following the investigation, a lockdown drill was conducted at Johnson Central High School and Johnson County Middle School. Emergency Management and school officials met after the drill to debrief and conduct areas of concern. Superintendent Thom Cochran said that during this time of tragedy in our public schools across the country, it is important that we are proactive in preventing any possible incident.
