Floyd County School Officials have Emergency Management Safety Meeting

On Thursday. February 22, 2018, Floyd County Schools Superintendent Steve Trimble, school board members, principals and central office staff, along with elected officials and members of law enforcement, met to review school safety in Floyd County Schools. At the meeting, Superintendent Trimble reviewed safety systems and procedures currently in place in the school district. He said that regular safety meetings with principals are held and supervision plans are revisited and adjusted if necessary. School Resource Officers for the high schools was the main topic of discussion, with the superintendent saying that finding funding to allow for three officers at Betsy Layne, Floyd Central and Prestonsburg High Schools for the rest of the year is their first priority.
