On Thursday, March 1, 2018, the L’Oreal USA announced their commitment to achieve carbon neutrality for all 21 of its US manufacturing and distribution by 2019. Part of that commitment is utilizing gas from the Big Run Landfill in Ashland. L’Oreal USA signed a 15-year agreement to purchase approximately 40 percent of the renewable natural gas produced from the Big Run Landfill. Construction of the Big Run Power Producers processing plant is scheduled to begin in March 2018 and is expected to be completed by the end of the year. The project will generate 7-10 permanent jobs at the facility.
