On Monday, March 5, 2018, Johnson County Deputies responded to a call on Kentucky RT 845 off of 460. The call was in reference to an individual in a front yard acting suspicious. Upon arrival, Deputy Martin noted an individual in the yard, holding a bible and talking toward the sky. The individual became combative when approached, and a taser was deployed. The male broke loose from the taser and barricaded himself inside the residence. Deputy Chris Blair arrived to assist when gunshots were heard inside the residence. Kentucky State Police and a special response team arrived on the scene to assist. A shootout occurred between the man and authorities. The individual was believed to be alone inside the residence. After the subject did not respond to officers, a remote unit was sent into the home, which discovered the man deceased. It has not yet been determined if the death was a result of injuries from the shootout or if it was a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The suspect’s identity has not been released at this time.
