Knox County Man Arrested After Traffic Stop in Stolen Vehicle

Around 1am Thursday, March 8, 2018, Knox County Deputy Mikey Ashurst observed a 2016 Toyota Corolla in the Flat Lick area with an expired Tennessee license plate. After conducting a traffic stop, the deputy learned the vehicle had been reported stolen from Oak Ridge in July 2017. Deputy Ashurst arrested David Wayne Washam, 46 of Flat Lick, charging him with receiving stolen property, theft of motor vehicle registration plate, operating on suspended or revoked operator’s license, and no insurance. A syringe was also found in the passenger, adding the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Washam was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
