Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes joined advocates for deaf and hard of hearing Kentuckians on Thursday, March 8, 2018, in urging the Kentucky General Assembly to pass a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Child’s Bill of Rights. Grimes said she doesn’t want Kentucky to follow Congress in the weakening of protections of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and wants to ensure these children receive an educational experience equal to those of their peers. The child’s bill of rights would ensure communication plans to nurture the development and growth of deaf and hard of hearing children are part of each student’s individual education plans.
